COLDWATER, Mich. (AP) — A southern Michigan man has pleaded not guilty to open murder in the shooting death of his wife, a Union City schoolteacher.

At his arraignment hearing Monday in Branch County District Court, 40-year-old Thomas Foley also pleaded not guilty to using a firearm in the commission of felony.

Judge Brent Weigle has ordered him to be jailed without bond until Foley's preliminary examination scheduled for April 8.

The body of 41-year-old DeeDee Foley was found Feb. 7 at their home in Branch County's Girard Township. She taught for 19 years at Union City Community Schools.

Defense attorney Ralph Kimble declined to comment on the case when contacted at his Coldwater office.
