LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — A fatal crash on Interstate 65 near Lafayette sent cash blowing from the wreck.

Indiana State Police say the crash occurred Wednesday afternoon when a southbound car crossed the median, drove through a group of four motorcyclists, and was struck by a northbound truck just south of Lafayette.

The driver of the car, 22-year-old Nicholas A. Kibby of West Lafayette, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police collected cash, including $20 bills, that were blown into the air by the wind.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Kim Riley declined to comment on the cash, saying that the investigation was continuing. Investigators did not know what caused Kibby's car to cross the median.

The truck driver was hospitalized with back and neck injuries.
