WARREN, Mich. (AP) — A Detroit-area woman accused of drugging her children before setting her house on fire will stand trial after a judge decided she had regained mental competency.

Prosecutors and Tanya Friedly's attorney in March accepted the findings of a psychiatric evaluation that the 33-year-old Warren woman was not able to understand the charges.

But following treatment, attorneys agree Friedly has regained competency.

Judge Jennifer Faunce accepted the findings on Tuesday. Friedly then waived her right to a preliminary exam on charges of assault with intent to commit murder and arson of a dwelling. Faunce bound Friedly over for trial.

Police say Friedly slipped her son and daughter medication in their hot chocolate before setting the house on fire. The children escaped.
