Amber Alert for Monroe girl, mom's friend queried

MONROE, Mich. (AP) — Authorities have issued an Amber Alert for a missing 5-year-old Monroe girl and are questioning a friend of her mother arrested on a parole violation charge.

The Monroe County sheriff's department is searching for Neviaeh Buchanan, who's been missing since 8:15 p.m. Sunday.

Neviaeh is 3-foot-8 and 45 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a red, white and blue striped shirt and knee-length jeans.

Authorities found her bicycle in the parking lot of an apartment and say she's in extreme danger.

The Blade of Toledo, Ohio, The Monroe Evening News and WDIV-TV say the sheriff's department is questioning an ex-convict who's a friend of Neviaeh's mother.
