HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — No charges will be filed against the family of a 3-year-old boy who drowned in a pond after walking out of a southwestern Michigan apartment.

WOOD-TV reports Aaron Ruiz's death had been ruled an accidental drowning.

Authorities were called to the apartment early May 14 after Ruiz was reported missing by family members. He was found about 1:30 a.m. in the pond in Ottawa County's Holland Township.

The child was pronounced dead at Holland Hospital.

Authorities previously said the search about 26 miles southwest of Grand Rapids had been hampered by darkness and heavy rain.
