BORLAND, Mich. (AP) — A 6-year-old boy is listed in critical condition at a Grand Rapids hospital after the horse-drawn buggy in which he was riding was struck from behind by a car.

Michigan State Police say three other people riding in the buggy suffered minor injuries while the car's driver from Big Rapids wasn't hurt.

The accident happened Wednesday afternoon just east of Borland in Mecosta County, about 40 miles north-northeast of Grand Rapids. The boy suffered a head injury after being knocked out of the buggy and onto the pavement.

He was flown to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. His name hasn't been released.

WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids reports that an Amish woman and her three children were in the buggy.
