NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Police say a teenager crashed into a police SUV at a sobriety checkpoint at Noblesville and then led officers on a brief chase.

Two Westfield officers were injured — one in the crash and the other while subduing the 16-year-old boy, who was being held Sunday on preliminary charges of driving while intoxicated and other counts.

Police say tests found the youth had a blood alcohol content of .216, or more than twice the legal limit.

Authorities say Officer Mike Vickroy was wrapping up work about 1:30 a.m. Sunday when the teen's pickup truck rear-ended his SUV and kept going. Vickroy was treated for back and neck injuries at a hospital and released.

Sgt. Andrew Gilreath suffered a wrist injury when officers tried to remove the teen from the truck after it stopped.

The teen was checked at a hospital and then placed in a juvenile detention center.
