'Bullet Proof Bandit' wanted in bank heists

CHICAGO (AP) — FBI agents are on the lookout for the "Bullet Proof Bandit," wanted in at least three bank robberies in the Chicago area since March.

The FBI said Wednesday the bandit struck most recently on April 17 at the Eden's Bank in Skokie where he made off with an undisclosed amount of money. He displayed a gun, had a teller fill a multicolored bag with cash, and fled on foot.

The bandit is described as a white male, 30 to 35 years old, 6-foot to 6-foot-2 with dark hair. Agents have been calling him the "Bullet Proof Bandit" because in each robbery he is believed to have worn a bullet proof vest.

Wanted bank robbers are given nicknames by the FBI to attract help from the public in efforts to catch them.
