GARY, Ind. (AP) — The FBI has joined the search for a missing toddler who vanished from a car while her baby sitter went into a convenience store in Gary.

The FBI says 2-year-old Jada Justice of Portage was apparently abducted. The girl was last seen in the car outside the store about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers combed the neighborhood near the store Tuesday night and Wednesday with police dogs and helicopters.

The girl's 18-year-old cousin, Angelica Castillo, told police she discovered the child was missing when she returned to the car after buying a gallon of milk.

Jada is described as African-American, 2 feet 2 inches tall and 35 pounds. She was last seen wearing an orange skirt and a striped shirt.

Anyone with information on Jada's whereabouts, call Gary Police at (219) 881-1260, Front Desk 1214.
