BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) — A southwestern Illinois woman whose 4-year-old daughter died of a morphine overdose has been sentenced to a year of probation after being found guilty of endangering the life of a child.

Twenty-eight-year-old Twanna Lyles was convicted Friday in St. Clair County.

Lyles was charged after East St. Louis police responding to a 911 call found young Deanna Johnson dead in November 2007 in a bedroom.

The girl was being watched by her aunt, 26-year-old Fredricka Lyles, and that woman's companion, 35-year-old Pernell Hampton.

Fredricka Lyles was convicted in August of drug-induced homicide. Hampton pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to six years in prison.
