ST. CHARLES, Ill. (AP) — Kane County authorities have filed involuntary manslaughter charges against a Carpentersville woman accused of leaving an 8-month-old boy unattended while his body temperature rose to a fatal level.

Kane County State's Attorney John Barsanti said Monday that 44-year-old Deanna Williams was also charged with child endangerment in the death of young Sparsh Dhar.

Police say Williams cared for the boy several times a week at an unlicensed day car facility she ran out of her Carpentersville home. They say that on April 22 she strapped Sparsh into a car seat, completely covered him with a blanket, and left him alone while she drove her own daughter to and from track practice. They say she did not check on Sparsh for about five hours.

Williams is being held on $10,000 bond.
