Virginia State Police have identified the woman who was killed in a three-vehicle accident Thursday on Interstate 81 South in Pulaski County.
The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Sharon Tate of Alexandria, Virginia. She died at the scene of the accident.
The accident caused traffic delays near mile marker 87 for about eight hours.

A woman was killed Thursday afternoon in an accident on Interstate 81 South in Pulaski County.
The accident happened near mile marker 87 around 1 p.m.
Investigators say a tractor-trailer came upon stopped traffic due to bridge construction at mile marker 86. The tractor-trailer was unable to stop in time, and swerved to the left. As the tractor-trailer swerved it hit an SUV, and then flipped on its side in the median.
When the tractor-trailer hit the SUV, it pushed the SUV into the back of another tractor-trailer, killing the driver of the SUV.
She was the only person in the SUV.
The driver of the first tractor-trailer, 45-year-old Manrajbir Singh Kang of Ashburn, has been charged with reckless driving.
The right lane of I-81 South is back open. The left lane is expected to be closed for several hours as crews unload the tractor-trailer.

Both lanes of I-81 South at mile marker 87 in Pulaski County are closed because of a tractor-trailer accident.
The Virginia Department of Transportation is asking drivers to avoid the area, and find different routes. Traffic is backed up about five miles.
In a separate accident on Interstate 81 South in Montgomery County, there is a four-mile backup near mile marker 125.
On Interstate 81 North in Rockbridge County, an accident near mile marker 191 is causing a two-mile delay.
