People with a love for trains were right at home in downtown Roanoke on Saturday.

The Virginia Museum of Transportation held its annual Train Lovers weekend.

The two day event will celebrate the Roanoke Valley's rich rail heritage.

Visitors got the chance to ride a vintage caboose, play games and make crafts.

Organizers say the event is something for the entire family.

"They've been awesome turnouts you know. We are a rail town, infact we are the rail town, we built the 12, 18 and 611 here right in Roanoke and we celebrate that heritage every chance we get and this is it," said Peg McGuire.

This is the third year the museum hosted the event.

If you weren't able to make it out today, the trains keep chugging Sunday from 1 until 5.
