Two Iowa men are due in court today after Chicago police charged them with animal cruelty.

Travis Webster and Larry Subject were arrested Tuesday in the Little Village neighborhood where police rescued 43 puppies.

Police say they heard loud barking coming from a vehicle parked in the 2500 block of West Cermak Road. Inside the vehicle, they found the puppies in cramped containers without adequate food or water.

The city Department of Animal Care and Control took custody of the puppies, pending further investigation.
