A 35 year-old construction worker was killed this morning when a massive cooling unit fell on him outside a Bronx hospital, authorities said.
Another construction worker was directing a crane carrying the unit at 173rd Street and Grand Concourse, outside of Bronx Lebanon hospital, when the incident happened.
As the crane was lifting the cooing unit onto the hospital's roof, the chain snapped and the unit landed on the victim, who worked for Aggreko, the company that manufactured the cooling unit. He died at the hospital from his injuries. His identity has not been released.
The crane belonged to C&L Heavy Hauling in Parsipanny, N.J.
