NEW YORK, N.Y. (WPIX)—
Subway and bus fares in New York City will go up Sunday. The cost of a single ride will go from $2.00 to $2.25. A 30-day Metrocard will jump from $81 to $89, while the price of a 7-day unlimited Metrocard will rise from $25 to $27. Express bus fares are also going up. The MTA will have a grace period for previously purchased Metrocards.

Meanwhile, a toll hike will also be put into effect for the MTA's eight crossings. Starting Jan. 12, The Robert F. Kennedy Bridge (formerly the Triborough Bridge), Bronx- Whitestone Bridge, Throgs Neck Bridge, Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel and Queens Midtown Tunnel will go from $5 to $5.50 for cash customers and from $4.15 to $4.57 for E-ZPass customers.

The 10 percent fare hikes were initiated as part of the State Legislature's MTA rescue plan.
