INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Two foreign companies are among four firms competing for a chance to become the Indiana lottery's first private manager.
The Indianapolis Star reports (http://indy.st/RxofxH ) the four firms have submitted information to Hoosier Lottery officials for background checks in anticipation of submitting private management proposals. State lottery officials are hoping a private firm can boost revenue for the state.
The companies competing for Indiana's private management contract include Tatts Group Limited, a Melbourne, Australia-based company that operates several lottery licenses in Australia. Also in the running is Camelot, a U.K.-based firm that runs Britain's national lottery.
Two American-based firms are also in the running. They are Rhode Island-based GTECH and New York-based Scientific Games International. Those two companies are among the nation's largest lottery vendors.
