BERNE, Ind. (AP) — Two Fort Wayne men have been arrested in connection with attacks on members of a northeastern Indiana Amish community.

Adams County Sheriff Shane Rekeweg said Wednesday that formal charges of armed robbery and criminal confinement are expected to be filed Thursday against 18-year-old Alejandro Lopez and 19-year-old David Veliz.

Rekeweg tells The Decatur Daily Democrat (http://bit.ly/S7RAEw) at least four separate incidents occurred Monday in which two men wearing ski masks stopped Amish buggies and threatened their occupants with baseball bats. The attacks occurred near Berne, about 30 miles south of Fort Wayne.

Lopez and Veliz were being held without bond Wednesday in the Adams County Jail. Records there didn't indicate if either had an attorney.

Rekeweg says a juvenile also has been detained.
