ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Three officers suffered from smoke inhalation as police and firefighters rescued four people from a blaze at an Ann Arbor apartment building.

Ann Arbor Fire Department Battalion Chief Kevin Cook tells AnnArbor.com (http://bit.ly/WUiwo9 ) for a story Monday that officers arrived at the burning building first just after 9 p.m. Sunday.

They rescued a person from a second-floor apartment. Firefighters later helped three people from the building's third floor.

Three residents and the police officers were listed in stable condition at a hospital.

The blaze mostly was contained to two apartments in the three-story, six-unit building. Investigators were looking into how the fire started.
