FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — A sheriff says a missing 9-year-old girl in Fort Wayne had been staying with a family friend when she disappeared on Friday.
Allen County Sheriff Ken Fries says Aliahna Lemmon and her sisters ages 6 and 8 had been at the friend's home for about a week since their mother was ill. Fries tells WANE-TV (http://bit.ly/uFtOCx) that Aliahna has vision and hearing troubles along with attention deficit disorder and other emotional problems.
Fries says police believe Aliahna was last in the home between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. Friday. He says miscommunication between the friend and the girl's mother possibly led to police not being called until about 8:45 p.m.
Numerous emergency workers are searching Saturday around a mobile home park on Fort Wayne's north side where the friend lives.
