SOUTH BEND — A man was injured when the adult bookstore he owns was robbed at gunpoint Friday evening.
According to South Bend Police, two men in their late 20s, dressed in black, walked into Little Denmark at 3002 W. Western Ave., around 7:40 p.m. Friday and pointed a handgun at the owner, who was working as a clerk.
One of the suspects, described as a black male, standing approximately 6 feet tall, with a medium build and wearing black gloves and a red bandanna over his face, immediately pointed a handgun at the victim’s forehead and yelled, “Give me the money!”
The armed suspect then forced his way behind the counter and told the owner, who complied, to open the cash register and empty his pockets.
The same suspect then demanded the owner remove the money from the store’s safe. According to police, the owner responded that he couldn’t open the safe, and that there was no money in it anyway.
The suspect then struck the owner in the forehead with the gun, after which, he became disoriented and bled profusely.
There was one customer in the video room of the store at the time of the robbery. Police said the second suspect demanded the customer hand over his money, as well.
Both suspects fled and were unable to be located by police Friday evening.
