MARSHALL COUNTY – A massive manhunt for a man wanted by police and considered dangerous came up empty Tuesday afternoon.
Around 10:15 a.m., county deputies tried to serve 42-year-old William Newman with a felony drug-related warrant out of Fulton County.
Newman led police on a car chase that ended in the area of 4th and Rose Road.
He then got out of his car and ran on foot into a wooded area of 4B and Redwood Roads, northwest of the Plymouth Municipal Airport.
Police describe Newman as a white male with thinning grey/black hair. He was wearing a grey plaid hoodie and may be armed and is considered dangerous.
Indiana State Police Sergeant Trent Smith believes Newman may have a gun, because when they were tracking him, they found a bag full of ammunition.
Smith says police have "backed off" the search, hoping Newman will get cold and tired and come out of hiding. They still have some officers in the area on the look out for him and prepared to make an arrest.

Indiana State Police, Walkerton PD, Starke County deputies and the LaPorte County Sheriff's Department are all helping in the manhunt.
