LAPORTE COUNTY – A Crown Point woman is behind bars in LaPorte County for killing her husband in Arizona more than 10 years ago.
Indiana State Police say 61-year-old Jane Leslie Carpenter was arrested Monday morning on a warrant issued out of Prescott, Arizona for 1st degree murder.
The arrest warrant stems from an investigation into the murder of Carpenter’s husband in June 2002 when they lived in Prescott. Authorities say after the murder, Carpenter returned to Indiana, running a business out of her home in Crown Point.
She was arrested as she arrived at a client’s house in LaPorte.
Carpenter is expected to be extradited back to Arizona.
An Indiana State Police detective worked with Prescott, Arizona police in tracking down Carpenter.
