The suspect in Thursday night’s armed robbery ... turn police chase ... turn getaway car left burning in cemetery ... is being held without bond in St. Joseph County Jail.

Preliminary charges against Larry Harris from Thursday night's incidents include armed robbery, resisting police and resisting police with a vehicle.

Harris also has a warrant from a previous case of residential entry, a $1,000 body attachment warrant and a U.S. Marshals Service federal hold.

Harris is suspected of armed robbery at the Family Video store, 520 Bittersweet Road, Mishawaka. Police received the robbery call at 10:43 p.m.

Minutes later, with Mishawaka and St. Joseph County police in pursuit, Harris apparently bailed out of the burning getaway car that became engulfed in flames on St. Joseph Valley Memorial Cemetery property, near the Main Street/S.R. 23 intersection in Granger.

Police don’t believe Harris had an accident with the car that caused the fire, but rather the car likely overheated.

After Harris ran from the burning car, police with K-9s searched a nearby hotel parking lot and the cemetery. He was taken into custody shortly after 11 p.m.
