South Bend Police tell WSBT a distracted driver in the U.S. 20 Bypass westbound construction zone, between Michigan Street and Ironwood Drive, caused a multi-vehicle pileup late Wednesday afternoon.
No injuries were reported by anyone in the vehicles.
Just before 6 p.m., police and emergency crews were called to the scene, on a report of a rollover accident.
Apparently, the distracted driver's vehicle struck the rear of a vehicle stopped in the construction zone. That collision pushed the stopped vehicle into the rear of the vehicle ahead of them and that vehicle was then shoved into the back of another stopped vehicle, police told WSBT.
