MISHAWAKA — A Mishawaka woman used a baseball bat to fend off a would-be robber over the weekend.
A man reportedly walked into Michiana Auto Sales at 402 W. Jefferson Blvd. about 4:15 p.m. Saturday and asked if he could test drive a blue Chevy Impala from the lot.
The employee, 40, said she needed to make a copy of his driver’s license and began walking back to the office. When she opened the entrance door, the suspect grabbed her by the left arm and twisted it behind her back, according to a police report.
The suspect told the woman to give him all the money, in which the woman responded that she hid it behind a chair. When the man let go of her arm, she grabbed an aluminum baseball bat from behind the chair and struck him three times in the left arm, causing him to leave, police said.
The victim did not seek medical attention. No loss was reported from the business.
No arrests have been made.
