SOUTH BEND – While the world's best bikers, racers and climbers compete in London, here in South Bend, we've got the next best thing.
The competitive spirit was on Saturday for the Urban Adventure Games.
If you didn't participate, hopefully you got a chance to see it. People competed in several different challenges that took them all over downtown South Bend.
On the east race, white water rafting and kayaking were part of the course, and who could pass up ziplining over the St. Joseph River?
For most of the challenges, the competitors had no idea what was in store.
Urban Adventure participant Brandon Hoffman was asked what it’s like doing the unknown. “It’s nice. It’s different. Keeps you guessing,” he replied.
When asked what’s some of the craziest stuff she’s done, Alexa Little said, “Our first one we did (Saturday) morning was a waterslide. It was fun. We got soaking wet in the first event, so we’ve been soaking wet all day.”
“There are more challengers who have participated than ever before, which is awesome, said Alexa Gates of Urban Adventure. “So, it’s a great way to kind of promote the city.”
This was the fourth year for the Urban Adventure Games.
