Bishop Emeritus John D'Arcy’s funeral was held Friday.
The long-time former leader of the Fort Wayne-South Bend Catholic Diocese died Sunday from cancer.
Those who knew Bishop D'Arcy say he was a devoted leader. They describe him as a man of deep integrity and devotion to ministry.
He is a father figure and a grandfather figure to a lot of people who knew him and worked with him. And Friday, they got the chance to say their final goodbyes.
Visitation of the Body was at 9 this morning in Fort Wayne. The funeral mass was celebrated after that at noon. The Rite of Committal was private to the D'Arcy family.
He was buried in Fort Wayne.
Locally, there was a visitation and mass on Wednesday here in South Bend.
