"The Bob & Tom Show," a long-running and highly rated syndicated morning radio program, will replace the Morning Drive on Real Country 99.9 WHFB-FM on Monday.
Created in 1983 by hosts Bob Kevoian and Tom Griswold, the lively, humorous talk show features original songs and bits inspired by current events, sports and topical cultural references. The show has won five Marconi awards, seven Billboard awards for "Local Air Personality of the Year," 11 Radio & Records awards and two National Chairman's Citation Awards from the Leukemia Society of America.
"Bob & Tom" previously ran on 95.7 WAOR-FM before the station switched from primarily classic rock to all sports talk. The comedic program will now air on 99.9 WHFB-FM Mondays through Fridays from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. and Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The show will replace Morning Drive, hosted by Shelly Harmon. Her new program, Afternoon Drive, will air from 3 to 7 p.m.
Bill Gamble, the program director at 99.9 WHFB-FM and operations manager for all WSBT radio stations, says he thinks WHFB listeners will enjoy the new addition to the schedule.
"'Bob & Tom Show' has adults listening," he said. "There are 'Bob & Tom' stations around the country that are country music fans. They're on country stations, so yeah, we wouldn't have put 'Bob & Tom' on if we didn't think that the HFB audience would enjoy the show."
If nothing else, Gamble claims that he and the rest of WHFB's staff are excited for the show to begin airing.
"We're excited about the show," he said. "'Bob & Tom' have been broadcasting for years and years and years. And we're just glad to have them on."
