Marcus Szymanowski is ready to sit back and watch March Madness play out, hopefully in his favor.
His bracket is all filled out.
He's picked his winner.
We all know the possibility of picking a perfect bracket is slim, but one can try.
"You have to do your research," Szymanowski said.
For about 20 years, he's had the same routine.
"I focus on the conference championship the week before. You get to see who's hot," Szymanowski said.
It's somewhat of a science, an art.
You have to pick the winners and at the same time pick the losers, all while keeping emotion out of it.
"I'm a big Big Ten guy," Szymanowski said. "I play favorites to the IU's, Michigan's, because I've seen them play and watch the most," Szymanowski said.
That's not emotion talking - Szymanowski did his homeowork all season long.
He made some reasonable choices:
"This bracket right here.. IU being number one seed."
But also some interesting ones:
"A lot of it is luck, but if you look at the percentages, you can go through and say two 12s [seed] usually beat 5s [seed] every year," Evans said.
"In all reality, it's luck and how it works out," Szymanowski said.
