ST. JOSEPH COUNTY – It's December, but it doesn't feel like it.
People are using any excuse to enjoy the warm weather, and some businesses are cashing in because of it!
"We get a lot of renters, so they were chomping at the bit to get in here, so they were disappointed they couldn't come in and skate," said John VanNevel with the ice rink.
But one sport's loss is another one's gain.
"I didn't think it would be that crowded, but the weather is nice, and you get guys that love golf; they'll be out here," said golfer Malcolm Hill.
The packed parking lot at Juday Creek speaks for itself as golf carts go by.
"The guy was on the phone at the pro shop, and he said we're booked solid. I said you got to be kidding me," golfer Gordon Medlock said.
"This is what we love to see - anytime you can golf through November and December in northern Indiana, it's awesome," said Trevor Strefling with Juday Creek.
"I got golf scheduled for tomorrow and the rest of this week," said Rick Ganser.
Back at Merrifield Ice Rink, it's a toss up. They need some colder nights to maintain a solid layer of ice before opening day, and they're hoping the weather cooperates.
"We should be able to make it through this warm weather and have ice for this Wednesday, " VanNevel said. ¿
You may also see construction crews still pounding away. This weather is a blessing for many of them still trying to finish up projects before that first snow and colder weather.
