ST. JOSEPH COUNTY – Around 9 p.m. Saturday, St. Joseph County sheriff's deputies were called into action when a car missed a stop sign and went into the St. Joe River at Vistula and Beech.

The aftermath was the car pulled out of the river on a tow truck with water pouring out of it.

Police say a man and woman from Elkhart were going east on Vistula and went right into the river.

They also say they believe alcohol was a factor. Police at the scene say the man who was driving took off were still looking for him.
