As you can imagine the community of Newtown continues to suffer from that horrible shooting which happened just a week ago.

As the holidays approach a group of people in South Bend are hoping to help the victim's families by holding a special fundraiser today.

Organizer Bob Saros say the goal is to, "unite the community and show support for the victim's families."

Saros has teamed up with Mike McNeff, with The Blarney Stone bar in South Bend, to host today's event.

They are asking people to bring any new, unwrapped toy to the restaurant to give to children in Newtown.

There is a large garage next to the bar which they hope to fill.

Santa and one of his elfs will be on hand to take pictures this afternoon.

People can also donate money at the fundraiser or go into any First Source Bank where a "Christmas for Conneticut" account has been setup.

"We are hoping to raise $25,000 to help those families," says McNeff.

McNeff's bar staff gave up their holiday party and instead are donating $1,000 to the cause.
