SOUTH BEND – St. Mary's College is cleaning up after an early Saturday morning fire in an auditorium.

The fire started just before one a.m. in the Moreau Center for the Arts.

Crews from Notre Dame and South Bend Clay responded to the incident, but officials say campus security was mostly able to take care of the flames.

A media spokesperson for the college says there was a lot of smoke damage that was mainly contained to a storage room for sets and costumes for theater productions.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

Right now, school officials do not know how much damage there is to the theater equipment.

This next week, Saint Mary's is scheduled to start its production of the Secret Garden in the auditorium.
