COLD CASE FILES: Do you recognize John Doe?
It has been more than 12 years since bones were discovered in a shallow grave just outside Benton Harbor. Police still don't know the identity of the person, but they do say he was murdered.
Someone walking in the area discovered the remains in a shallow grave near railroad tracks in 2000. Based on the decomposition, police say the bones had been there for a while. The medical examiner was able to determine the body was of a white or Hispanic male. The Sheriff's Department had an artist create renderings of how the man may have looked. And he was wearing unique clothing when he died. Police hope someone will recognize his face and clothes so he can be identified.
Police won't say how the man was killed because that would be information only the person responsible would know. But they do say it was murder.
If you know anything or you recognize his face - call the Berrien County Police Department.
