Help is available for area students and their parents in completing financial aid forms for college and other post-secondary schooling.
The University of Notre Dame’s Trio programs office will offer free help from 9 a.m. to noon each Saturday through March 5. On one Saturday, Feb. 26, the hours will be 1 to 4 p.m.
The Saturday help sessions will be in Notre Dame’s Information Technology Center Annex. To reach that building, take Indiana 933 and turn onto Dorr Road near WNDU-TV. There is a parking lot to the south of Dorr Road. The ITC Annex is at the east end of Dorr Road, where it meets Holy Cross Drive.
Free assistance filling out the financial aid form also will be available:
- From 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through March 2 at La Casa de Amistad, 746 S. Meade St., South Bend.
- In Michigan: 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays through Feb. 24 at Ferry Street Resource Center, 520 Ferry St., Niles.
When attending a session, the student and parents should bring: a completed 2010 federal tax return, 2010 W-2 forms or the final check stub for 2010 showing the year’s earnings; records of any unemployment compensation; amount of 2010 non-taxable income such as child support or disability pay; the student’s e-mail address; the Social Security numbers and birth dates of the parents or guardians with whom the student lives.
