SOUTH BEND – A man convicted of killing a South Bend cop and then sentenced to life in prison is asking for his sentence to be reduced.

Greg Dickens was 16-years-old when the murder happened in 1997.

He was convicted and sentenced to life without parole for the killing of Corporal Paul DeGuch.

Dickens maintains he was there at the time of the shooting but didn't shoot DeGuch.

The Indiana Supreme Court upheld his conviction in 2001. Now, he's asking a St. Joseph County court for the 4th time to reduce his sentence.

A hearing is scheduled for later this month.
