ST. JOSEPH COUNTY -- The cause of death for two boys who were found in a shut car trunk Friday in New Carlisle was a result of hyperthermia, the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit says.
The coroner verified that excessive heat caused the organs for each child to shut down, resulting in their deaths.
On Saturday, police revealed that 2-year-old Isaac Dunner died after being shut in the trunk on a day when temperatures reached a high of 85 degrees. Authorities said his half-brother, 4-year-old Dominik Wilk died the next day.
