FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — A northeast Indiana coroner says a 9-year-old Fort Wayne girl whose dismembered body was found the day after Christmas died of multiple blunt force and suffocation Injuries.
Allen County Coroner E. Jon Brandenberger issued a news release Wednesday listing the cause of death for Aliahna Maroney-Lemmon. The news release says she died Dec. 26, but coroner's office chief investigator Michael Burris says the office lists the day the remains were found as the date of death.
Police earlier said they believe the girl was killed Dec. 22.
Thirty-nine-year-old Michael Plumadore is scheduled to stand trial June 18 on charges of murder, abuse of a corpse and removing a dead body from the scene.
Plumadore had been caring for the third-grader while her mother was sick.
