ELKHART – Emergency crews shut down a part of the U.S. 20 bypass near Elkhart during the Monday morning commute.

An Elkhart County dispatcher says police were called to several accidents in the area, although nothing life-threatening.

Westbound lanes of the bypass near State Road 19 were closed just before 7:30 and reopened about two hours later.

That included the entrance ramp there.

Police were directed to reroute traffic off of the bypass at SR 19.

The weather caused some slick spots across northern Indiana and southwest Michigan Monday morning.
