A 34-year-old Rochester woman is in fair condition Tuesday morning at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.
Indiana State Police reported Angela Crawford was a passenger in a vehicle that went out of control late Sunday night on I-94, just west of the Michigan City exit.
Crawford was initially taken to Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Michigan City, but later transferred to Memorial.
The vehicle’s driver, Diana Davidson, 34, of Merrillville, was treated and released from Saint Anthony’s Hospital, but then booked into the LaPorte County Jail. She’s charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury, a Class D felony.
Police say the crash occurred when Davidson was driving east in the right lane and passed a semi-tractor-trailer. She then tried to change lanes, but lost control and drove across all eastbound lanes and struck a concrete median barrier wall. Her vehicle then ricocheted off the wall and hit the semi she’d just passed.
The semi driver was not injured.
