Saying South Bend's annual "Daddy-Daughter Dance" is a popular event is a major understatement. So popular in fact, tickets were sold out and 1,100 dads and daughters stepped out to Century Center Tuesday night for the South Bend Parks & Recreation event.
Girls ages 3 to 12 years danced with dads at the event themed "Ballerina Barbie."
Dad Maurice McGee believes the event is special for his and all girls. "It's special because the fathers in the community get to have one night showing their daughters how they're supposed to be treated when they start dating," McGee said.
Tuesday's event was the 12th annual dance.
Moms, don't feel left out. The parks' department annual "Mom-Son Dance" is set for March 21 at the Palais Royale in downtown South Bend.
Tickets are required for the "Kung Fu!" themed event and are available via this link: http://sbpark.org/activities/special-events/mom-son-dance/
