Kristyana Jackson (August 31, 2012)

ELKHART – A local community is coming together to talk about potential solutions to stopping violence.

A meeting in Elkhart tonight comes exactly two weeks after the deadly shooting of a 7 year old girl. Police have yet to arrest anyone for the crime.

Kristyana Jackson was killed August 17 during a robbery attempt at her home. Her grandmother says it happened when three men tried to break into the house.

She and her mom had just returned home from the Central vs. Memorial football game.

The tragedy is prompting community members to invite several people to take part in tonight's forum, including Elkhart Mayor Dick Moore, Elkhart police and professors from IUSB.

The forum is at North Side Middle School's gym starting at 7:00 p.m.

The public is welcome.
