The decomposed body found in a drainage ditch in Covert Township earlier this week has now been identified as Ivory Lee Shaver III, 26, of South Haven.

Covert Township Police found a decomposed body in a county drain off 72nd Street, near County Road 376, late Tuesday morning. An autopsy was conducted in Lansing, though the cause of death is undetermined.

Identification was made through fingerprints submitted to the Michigan State Police Crime Lab in Grand Rapids, according to a Covert Township Police news release issued Friday. A tattoo on the body was also compared to existing photos of the tattoo from the victim after identification through fingerprints were made.  

Investigators are continuing their investigation into Shaver's death.
