GOSHEN – Elkhart County police are asking for the public’s help in solving a pair of early morning robberies Wednesday outside of Nappanee.

Around 4:40 a.m., police say two men in a light-colored passenger car confronted 29-year-old Merle Miller, who was riding his bicycle on C.R. 54, east of C.R. 9. The suspects, aged 20 to 30, pointed a long rifle at Miller and demanded money from him. The bandits were not able to get any money when Miller rode away from the men, who were seen headed east on C.R. 54.

Around 7 a.m., two men and a vehicle similar to the one described above approached 21-year-old Nelson Martin, who was riding his bicycle on C.R. 9, north of C.R. 38. After demanding money from Martin, the suspects got some cash and fled southbound on C.R. 9.
