Norfolk Southern Railroad officials lifted its evacuation order Thursday morning for residents near the derailed train in Noble County.

The derailment or more than 20 cars early Tuesday morning in the area of 1100 North 900 West, caused a fire in a car carrying molten sulfur, as well as a chemical leak.

Some residents in the area reported having burning eyes and respiratory problems. They were asked to receive medical attention.

To ensure the area's environmental safety Indiana Department of Environmental Management contractors will monitor cleanup activities.
