NEW CITY, N.Y. (AP) — Former NFL star Lawrence Taylor is scheduled to be sentenced in a suburban New York court today for having sex with an underage girl.

The 51-year-old ex-linebacker already has worked out a plea deal of six years' probation. He'll also be required to register as a sex offender.

Taylor says he paid $300 to have sex with the 16-year-old runaway he had thought was a 19-year-old prostitute. Taylor had resisted a plea deal for months, saying the girl had lied about her age.

The prosecutor says the plea deal is acceptable because Taylor has helped in investigations into human trafficking since he was charged.

Taylor led the New York Giants to Super Bowl titles in 1987 and 1991.
