The heat created conditions for an Ozone Action Day Thursday and another one Friday. Our Fact Finder team looked into how often those are called, and when.
Here's what we found: Counting tomorrow, we will have had five Ozone Action Days this year. That's more than all of the last five years EXCEPT 2008, when we had 6 days.
Another interesting note: Jjust like this, 2008 also had the latest Ozone Action Days -- both were on September 1st and 2nd.
IDEM says these days do NOT trend up just because of warmer temperatures.
