A suspected bank robber is in the LaPorte County jail and you could be too … if you find and keep the big bucks he tossed.
Police say David Ziesel, tossed thousands of dollars out of his car window as he lead police on a high-speed chase.
LaPorte County Police won't let us show you their dash-cam video, but an officer told WSBT the scene was like something out of a movie from LaPorte County all the way to Elburn, Ill.
Along with the cash toss, “People put themselves in danger, who saw all this money flying along, stopping their cars, jumping over the barriers, running after the money, collecting the money. It created another hazard, not just for the traveling public, but for our officers, also,” Jim Sosinski, LaPorte Police, told WSBT.
The tossed-cash frenzy began near I-94’s mile marker 19. Emergency 911 dispatchers received calls throughout the weekend about people looking for loot. To date, money turned in has been found more than 30 miles away from mile marker 19.
Remember, the cash is stolen … receiving stolen property is a crime AND the money stolen from LaPorte Savings Bank is traceable.
IF you find money, call any police department.
