BIG RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say 13 brass flag holders have been stolen from Civil War veterans' graves at a Michigan cemetery.
WWTV-WWUP reports (http://bit.ly/PkBbeF ) the theft was discovered Tuesday, when the 13 flags that once stood in those holders were found on the ground at Highland View Cemetery.
Cemetery supervisor Regina Geib is asking people in the Big Rapids area to help find the holders or at least those responsible. Plans call for buying new flag holders if the original ones aren't returned.
The cemetery is in Mecosta County, about 50 miles north of Grand Rapids. Tips about the case are being sought from police.
